Ichtho®-Bath is a balneotherapeutic (medicinal bath additive) with an active ingredient from the group of sulphonated shale oils.

Ichtho®-Bath reduces inflammation and itching, stimulates blood circulation and has an antibacterial and pain-relieving effect. The content of refatting agents in the base prevents excessive degreasing of normal skin.

Ichtho®-Bath is used for supportive treatment:

for diseases of the musculoskeletal system caused by wear and tear,
for itchy and/or inflammatory skin diseases.

There are no sufficient clinical studies available for these areas of application.

Application

Unless otherwise prescribed, ICHTHO®-BAD is used as a medicinal bath additive (balneotherapeutic agent) for the preparation of full and partial baths 2-3 times a week. The dosage is determined using the cap of the ICHTHO®-BAD bottle.

Dosage with the cap of a 130 g bottle:

1 full bath (100 litres) 5 caps (approx. 20 g solution)
1 sitz bath (50 litres) 2.5 caps (approx. 10 g solution)
1 partial bath (25 litres) 1.5 caps (approx. 5 g solution)

Children and adolescents: No data available.

Method of application: The required ICHTHO®-BAD single dose is measured and added to the incoming bath water to mix well. The bath temperature is normally body temperature (approx. 36°C). In case of severe itching, the temperature should be below 36°C or as low as tolerable. The duration of the bath should be 20 to 30 minutes. It is advisable to rest for half an hour after the bath.

Duration of use: In order to achieve a healing effect, 2-3 bath treatments should be carried out weekly over a period of 4 to 6 weeks, unless otherwise prescribed. The duration of treatment depends on the type and extent of the illness, please consult your doctor.

Ingredients

The active ingredient is: Ammonium bituminosulphonate (Ichthyol®), spec. conc.
100 g liquid bath additive contains 88 g ammonium bituminosulphonate (Ichthyol®), spec. conc.
The other ingredients are Coconut fatty acid monoethanolamide, sodium lauryl ether sulphate, perfume oil Chic, purified water
