The Geratherm® chlamydia check is a medical device. The self-test is used to detect the Chlamydia trachomatis bacterium.

The Geratherm® chlamydia check is used to detect an infection with Chlamydia trachomatis. Chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases. If left untreated, it can lead to infertility and increase the risk of premature births. Regular testing for a possible infection is therefore advisable. With the Geratherm® chlamydia check, you will receive the result within a few minutes.

Functionality / measuring principle

The Geratherm® chlamydia check for self-diagnosis is an immunological, qualitative lateral flow rapid test for the detection of Chlamydia trachomatis (antigen) in the cervical smear. If the sample (vaginal secretion mixed with buffer solution) is applied to the sample field "S", it migrates along the membrane by capillary action. In a positive sample, an anti-Chlamydia trachomatis antibody-gold complex binds the Chlamydia trachomatis antigen. This complex binds a firmly anchored further anti-Chlamydia trachomatis antibody on the membrane at the level of the "T" mark on the test cassette. This causes the antibody-gold complex to accumulate, resulting in a purple line in the result field at "T". A coloured line at the level of the control field "C" serves as a procedural control, indicating that the correct amount of sample has been applied and that the membrane moistening was sufficient.
