- Oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPC) belong to the natural substance group of flavonoids. The seeds and skins of the red grape (Vitis vinifera) in particular have a high content of this secondary plant substance, which is easily absorbed by the human body. As phenolic compounds, OPCs have high antioxidant activity and therefore act as free radical scavengers. Free radicals play a significant role in the development of eye diseases. These reactive molecules are able to impair the visual process if the organism is low in antioxidants. OPCs are important for vision and the entire metabolism.
