Gall Pharma Molybdenum Capsules are a food supplement containing 75 µg molybdenum per capsule. The essential trace element supports various metabolic processes and enzyme systems and contributes to energy production.

The German Nutrition Society specifies a daily requirement of 50 to 100 μg of molybdenum for adults. A molybdenum deficiency can lead to a reduction in the concentration of uric acid and thus increase the free radical load on the cells. It is possible that a molybdenum deficiency can favour the development of tooth decay because molybdenum is involved in the incorporation of fluorine into the teeth. It is also suspected that a number of non-specific symptoms such as excitability, night blindness and itching can be caused by molybdenum deficiency.

Molybdenum is an essential trace element, the human body contains approx. 20 mg of it. As a cofactor, molybdenum supports a number of important enzymes in the metabolism, especially those responsible for the breakdown of compounds containing oxygen, nitrogen or sulphur. One of these enzymes that has incorporated molybdenum is xanthine oxidase. This is involved in purine metabolism and leads to the formation of the end product uric acid. Uric acid plays an important role in the chemical binding of free radicals. Aldehyde oxidase, which is responsible for the breakdown of alcohol in the liver, also has molybdenum in its structure. In addition to its metabolic function, molybdenum is also a component of teeth. Here it has a bacteriostatic effect, i.e. it inhibits the growth of bacteria. Molybdenum is found in significant quantities in parsley, dill, pulses, eggs, offal and potatoes.
