Epi-No Birth Preparation Trainer Dolphin plus, 1 ST

Product information "Epi-No Birth Preparation Trainer Dolphin plus"
A gentle start
into life

A birth is like a small miracle: joy, fascination, pure emotion - but also hard work. To ensure that you and your child start life well prepared, you can do something before the birth:

With EPI-NO Delphine and EPI-NO Delphine Plus, you can help shape and support your own birth preparation. Through gentle, targeted and regular training with EPI-NO, you can effectively prevent painful perineal injuries during labour - e.g. an episiotomy or a perineal tear.

A large proportion of all women giving birth are affected by these injuries. A perineal massage alone is often not enough to prevent them, or it is perceived as unpleasant. Possible consequences of perineal injuries include inflammation, scars, pain during bowel movements and pain during sex. Late consequences can also include stress incontinence or a prolapsed uterus.

The idea that led to the development of EPI-NO originally came from midwives in Africa, where pregnant women - even today - prepare naturally for labour by stretching and strengthening their pelvic floor muscles with calabash gourds. This minimises the risk of perineal injury.

This ancient African tradition has given rise to a modern medical product in the form of the soft, inflatable silicone balloon from EPI-NO.

We invite you to find out more about EPI-NO on the following pages. Read studies and field reports, the frequently asked questions and the answers. We are also happy to answer your questions by telephone or email (see Contact)
All documents (e.g. the complete instructions for use, a training programme for regression, etc.) are available for free download. We endeavour to provide factual information - not bold advertising.

EPI-NO is not a miracle cure but a medical training device that serves to better prepare the body for labour. It strengthens and stretches the muscles (important: only up to the feeling of maximum tension - without any sensation of pain!) Training with
EPI-NO does not permanently stretch (or even ''wear out'') the tissue, but simply makes it more flexible, i.e. more capable of stretching, for a predetermined time (the birth).

A simple example: If you train over 2-3 weeks - slowly increasing - towards a split, then through constant practice you can do it sooner and without injury or strains, rather than suddenly and unprepared. Uninjured tissue recovers much more easily. If you then stop training the splits, you will realise that after a while you will no longer be able to do them (unprepared). Basically, it is the same as with any other ''sporting'' activity (stretch, flex and relax).

EPI-NO in no way replaces the work of midwives, but many midwives now use and recommend this training as a useful addition to labour preparation. According to our last survey (1st half of 2009), every second (52%) EPI-NO used in Germany was already recommended by a midwife.

'How you benefit from EPI-NO Delphine PLUS
for the birth:

- The risk of perineal injury is significantly reduced, as scientific studies
have shown.
The combination with perineal
massage is ideal.

-
The duration of the critical expulsion phase is significantly shortened
Mother and child can experience the birth with less stress.

- The need for painkillers during labour is reduced.

- Regular training reduces the fear of giving birth and strengthens
self-confidence: The pregnant woman trains the sensation that she feels when
the baby's head passes through the vagina.

Birth preparation
with EPI-NO

Around three weeks before the birth, various exercises are performed to
to increase the elasticity of the pelvic floor and vaginal muscles.
muscles. Exercise should be done for about 15 minutes a day. As with sport
muscles are not only built up, but also stretched and made more flexible
and made more flexible (stretching).

Strengthening/building up the pelvic floor

First, the EPI-NO
balloon is inserted into the vagina

by tensing the
muscles against the
resistance of the balloon.

Stretching the muscles

Postnatal training
with EPI-NO Delphine Plus

Approximately three to six weeks after the birth, targeted pelvic floor exercises can strengthen the stretched pelvic floor muscles again.

The more the pelvic floor muscles are tensed, the greater the pressure on the balloon. With the EPI-NO Delphine Plus pressure indicator
this pressure and thus the training progress can be monitored and visualised (biofeedback).

With EPI-NO Delphine Plus

What is the pelvic floor?

The pelvic floor is one of the most important muscle groups in the whole
body. The multi-layered muscle shell connects the coccyx to the pubic bone.
the pubic bone.

It closes the pelvis, which is open at the bottom, and keeps our
upright and stabilises circulation and breathing.

The stronger the pelvic floor muscles, the better the organs in the pelvis function: uterus, bladder and bowel. Well-trained
muscles also increase sexual pleasure.

Why pelvic floor training?

During labour, the muscles of the pelvic floor are extremely stretched.
By consciously tensing and relaxing the pelvic floor muscles during
muscles during postnatal exercises, the muscles become strong and taut again.
strong and firm again.

At the beginning of pelvic floor training, the biggest problem is that
many women do not know where their pelvic floor muscles are located or have difficulty tensing these muscles.

It is therefore crucial during training to develop a feeling for the pelvic floor muscles
muscles of the pelvic floor and to feel the right muscle groups.

This is where EPI-NO Delphine Plus with biofeedback
effectively.
