Nasal rinses with Emser Salt are an important component of treatment for respiratory conditions in children. The quantity of 1.475 g of Emser Salz is precisely tailored to the 125 ml capacity of theNasanita children’s nasal douche. This ensures you always prepare an isotonic solution, allowing your child to rinse their nose without any restrictions on frequency or duration.

For use in acute and chronic infections of the nose, with or without involvement

• the paranasal sinuses (sinusitis)
• the middle ears (serous effusions, otitis media)
• the bronchi (bronchitis)

Recommended for: 

• minor acute infections of the upper respiratory tract 
• chronic inflammation of the nose and sinuses

Directions for use

Emser Salz®mustbedissolved in water before use. As a general rule, Emser Salz® shouldbe usedinaniso-osmoticconcentration(i.e.adjusted tothe mineral content of the blood). To achieve this, the contents of one 1.475 g sachet aredissolvedin 125 ml of water. Higher concentrations are onlypermitted on the advice of a doctor. Lowerconcentrations should not be used.

The following points mustbe observed when preparing aready-to-use solution:

The quality of the water to be useddepends on the intended application.

• When nebulising using a suitable nebuliser, the use of distilled water is recommended, as otherwise the device’s nozzles may become blocked. The distilled water used should either be freshly distilled or, failing that, boiled.
• Tap water (drinking water quality, lukewarm if possible) can generally be used to prepare a nasal rinse. In thefirst 3 days following endonasal procedures,boiled tap watershouldbe used.

For nasal irrigation:

Adults and children aged 12 and over shouldrinsetheir nose 1–3 timesa day with 250 ml ofisoosmotic solution, and children under 12 should do so 1–3 timesa day with 125 ml.

For nasal inhalation:

Inhalation through the nose shouldbe carried out 3–4 times a dayusing an isoosmotic solution of Emser Salz®. Inhalation should alwaysbecarried outusing asuitable nebuliser. Compressed-air orultrasonic inhalersare suitable. 

Depending on the type of device,the volumerequiredfor nebulisation canvary considerably (5–300 ml). In anycase,enough solution shouldbe addedto the inhalertoensurean inhalation time of10–15 minutes.
