- Several studies have shown that there is a nutritional need for a combination of L-lysine, vitamin C and zinc in herpes simplex I viral infections (cold sores). ERALYSIN® contains the amino acid L-lysine, vitamin C and zinc. L-lysine is a so-called essential amino acid, i.e. it cannot be produced by the body itself and must therefore be supplied to the body through food. L-lysine is - among many other properties - known in the dietary treatment of herpes simplex I virus infections (cold sores). On the one hand, this can lead to a reduction in the number of cold sore outbreaks or contribute to a reduction in the severity of the symptoms.
- The mechanism of action of L-lysine consists of an antagonism ("blockade" between two substances) with the amino acid arginine, which is necessary for the multiplication of the herpes simplex virus. L-lysine reduces the intestinal absorption, the reabsorption via the kidneys and the transport of arginine in the body. This means that less arginine is available for virus replication, which can help to stop the spread of the virus.
- ERALYSIN® also contains the vital trace element zinc and the essential vitamin C. Zinc is involved in a variety of metabolic functions, including the growth of the skin and the functioning of the immune system. Vitamin C is an important co-factor for L-lysine in addition to many other tasks in the body (cell protection, strengthening the immune system, etc.).
