- Like the lemon tree, the bitter orange or bitter orange tree is a tree up to 5 metres high with evergreen leaves. The medium-sized, white to cream-coloured flowers are highly fragrant with a sweet, heavy scent and are found in single or few-flowered, leaf-axial clusters. The roundish fruit has a diameter of 7-8 cm, is flattened at both ends and has a thick, rough, orange-coloured skin. The flesh has an acidic, bitter flavour.
- Effect: Due to their calming and sleep-promoting effect, orange blossoms are ideal for treating states of agitation and sleep disorders. They also have a nerve-strengthening and stomach-soothing effect. They can be used for loss of appetite and digestive problems, as well as for gout and sore throats.
