Dr Kottas aniseed fennel tea, 20 ST

Dr Kottas aniseed and fennel tea is a soothing herbal tea and promotes digestion. Aniseed, fennel, star anise, caraway and coriander have a decongestant effect and are good for digestion.

Aniseed, star anise, fennel, caraway and coriander are typical spice herbs and are rich in essential oil. Their properties? Decongestant and harmonising in the digestive tract. The ingredients in this recipe are kept small and fine, which is why a sediment in your teacup is completely natural.

TIP: This tea is not suitable if you are cross-allergic to umbellifers.

Fennel (Fructus Foeniculi amari)

• Fennel is an annual to perennial plant that is anchored in the soil with a mostly fleshy root and can grow up to 2 metres high. The stems are branched at the top with pinnately lobed leaves. The small, yellow flowers bloom from July to September and are arranged in umbels. The oil of the fenchon-rich fruits is used medicinally.
• Effect: Helps with digestive complaints, bloating, flatulence and cramp-like complaints in the gastrointestinal tract (especially in babies and small children) and helps to loosen mucus in catarrhs of the upper respiratory tract.

Coriander (Fructus Coriandri)

• Coriander is an annual plant that grows to a height of around 60 cm with pinnate, light green leaves. The small white to reddish flowers form double umbels. The fruits are brown to straw-coloured, round to spherical and, unlike other umbellifers, do not break up into sub-fruits. The aromatic odour of the fresh (unripe) fruits, which some people find unpleasant, is striking. The ripe, dried fruits, which have a pleasantly spicy odour, are used.
• Effect: The essential oil of coriander has an inhibitory effect on the growth of bacteria, is slightly antispasmodic and stimulates flatulence. Coriander is therefore used to treat bloating, mild cramp-like digestive complaints and flatulence and to stimulate the appetite. When added to medicines and foods, it increases their tolerability.

Caraway (Fructus Carvi)

• The parent plant is a biennial, 30 cm to 100 cm tall and grows in meagre meadows, pastures and along roadsides. Its aromatic scent and caraway flavour are typical. The caraway used medicinally comes from cultivated plants.
• Effect: The most important active ingredient in caraway is the essential oil, which consists largely of carvone. Carvone has been described as having an antimicrobial, antispasmodic and flatulent effect. Caraway is the best herbal carminative (remedy for flatulence). Caraway is also used to alleviate complaints such as bloating, mild cramp-like gastrointestinal disorders and digestive problems in babies.

Aniseed (Fructus Anisi)

• Aniseed is an annual plant from the umbellifer family that grows up to 50 cm tall and originates from the eastern Mediterranean region. The plant, which flowers white from July to August, has a sweet flavour and a characteristic smell. The dried fruits, which contain 2 - 3 % essential oil (mainly anethole), are used medicinally.
• Effect: To promote mucus clearance in catarrhs of the respiratory tract, flatulence and cramp-like complaints in the gastrointestinal tract (especially in infants and small children). Aniseed facilitates expectoration, has a mild antispasmodic effect and stimulates digestion.

How to use

• Pour boiling water over 1 filter bag per cup (125 ml), cover and leave to infuse for 10 minutes. Then squeeze out the filter bag and drink 1 cup of tea several times a day, lukewarm, in sips.
• Note: Due to the degree of crushing of the ingredients, a sediment in your cup is completely natural.
• Tip: The harmonising blend of herbs in Dr. Kotta's aniseed and fennel tea brings our digestive system back into balance. Do not use the tea if you are cross-allergic to umbellifers!
