- 50 µg vitamin K2 (all-trans MK-7) + 25 µg vitamin D3 (1000 I.U.) per drop
- Good for bones, muscles and immune system
- Optimally bioavailable - fat-soluble oil-based vitamins
- Produced in Germany with vitamins from Europe
- For increased vitamin K2 requirements from the age of 50
- With increasing age, the body is often exposed to particularly stressful situations. The need for vitamin K increases. The estimated value defined by the German Nutrition Society (DGE) for an adequate intake of vitamin K increases significantly from the age of 51 (for men from 70 to 80 µg/day; for women from 60 to 65 µg/day).
- The long-chain vitamin K2 (menaquinone-7) contained in Dr Jacob's Vitamin K2D3 Oil has particularly good bioavailability and a long half-life in the body. Specifically, with a half-life of approx. 3 days, K2 acts around 50 times longer than conventional K1 (approx. 1-2 hours). K2 can therefore build up effective blood levels and exert its effect throughout the body.
- With little sun exposure, the body's own production of vitamin D in the skin and intake from food are generally not sufficient. Experts and the Endocrine Society (one of the oldest and most important medical organisations in the world) consider vitamin D levels of over 75 nmol/l to be good, which means that only 12% of the German population has a good level.
- The Endocrine Society recommends that adults take 37.5-50 μg (1500-2000 I.U.) of vitamin D daily. The renowned US Society for Geriatric Medicine even recommends that all people aged 70 and over take 100 μg (4000 I.U.) of vitamin D daily to achieve good vitamin D levels of ≥ 75 nmol/l. This corresponds to the daily intake of vitamin D from all sources derived by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) as safe (tolerable) for people aged 11 and over.
- From the age of 60, falls are a risk factor for bone fractures. An increased risk of falling in old age can also be linked to the vitamin D supply. A daily intake of 20 µg (800 I.U.) of vitamin D - from all sources - reduces the risk of falls associated with physical instability and muscle weakness in people aged 60 and over.
- Dr Jacob's Vitamin K2D3 Oil contains 25 µg (1000 I.U.) of vitamin D3 per serving. A higher vitamin D dosage may be useful if required.
- support the maintenance of bones
- Support normal blood clotting
- support the immune system
- maintain bones and teeth
- maintain muscle function
- Support the normal absorption and utilisation of calcium
- Vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 work together in the storage of calcium in the bones and thus contribute to the maintenance of normal bones. Vitamin D3 causes the formation of osteocalcin (central protein in bone metabolism). Vitamin K2 is needed to activate osteocalcin. Only activated osteocalcin can actually incorporate calcium into the bones.
- Vitamin K2 also activates MGP, a central calcium-binding protein in the vascular wall and connective tissue. In addition, vitamin K2 supports normal blood coagulation by enabling the formation of coagulation factors as well as anti-coagulation factors, in particular protein S. In studies with vitamin K2, doses of 180 µg proved to be particularly effective.
