What can you do if you constantly need to go to the toilet?

It is invisible, often underestimated, and yet one of the body’s most important muscle groups: the pelvic floor plays a vital role in the female body, acting as a natural support system for internal organs such as the bladder, bowel and uterus. Over the course of a woman’s life, the pelvic floor can become weakened due to a wide variety of external factors, and this can sometimes have a direct impact on bladder function. 

Bladder weakness – an issue that concerns many women

If the pelvic floor has been put under considerable strain – for example, by pregnancy and childbirth – it may no longer be able to provide optimal support for the urethral sphincter. What happens next is a concern for many women: the bladder signals the need to urinate constantly, and sometimes urine leaks without warning. This can happen particularly during physical exertion, such as lifting or climbing stairs, but often simply when laughing, coughing or sneezing. Studies show that the water-soluble compounds from the Styrian oil pumpkin (lat. Cucurbita pepo styriaca)^support bladder function and a normal urine flow1^,2.

Pumpkin seed extract 

The pumpkin seed extract contained in Dr. Böhm® Pumpkin for Women supports bladder function and the pelvic floor muscles. Its effectiveness in managing involuntary urine leakage has been scientifically proven in studies. In women (aged 35–84), the daily incidence of involuntary urine leakage was reduced by 41 per cent after two weeks’ use and by as much as 68 per cent after six weeks.¹ 

The beneficial effect of pumpkin seeds on the bladder has been known in folk medicine for several centuries. Since the beginning of the 20th century, a special variety of pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo styriaca) has been cultivated, mainly in Styria. The use of its seeds to support bladder function is considered scientifically recognised.

Directions for use

During the first 2–4 weeks, take 1 tablet twice daily (morning and evening) without chewing, with a little liquid, regardless of mealtimes. Thereafter, it is recommended to take 1 tablet, preferably before going to bed, over a longer period (at least 3 months). If necessary, 2 tablets may also be taken over the long term.
