The epidermis normally renews itself every 26–28 days; in people with psoriasis, its growth rate is seven times higher. As a result, excess skin flakes accumulate in certain areas of the body (such as the elbows, shins or even the scalp), forming reddened, inflamed and sometimes itchy patches of skin.

DermaSel Therapy PSORIASIS OINTMENT is a medical device containing Dead Sea salt and Dead Sea magnesium chloride for the treatment and relief of the typical symptoms of dry, reddened skin prone to excessive flaking (e.g. in psoriasis vulgaris). It promotes the desquamation process and reduces redness caused by dandruff and dryness.

• Boswellic acids, found in extracts of the Indian frankincense tree, and extracts of South African devil’s claw inhibit inflammation, reduce skin redness and have proven effective as adjunctive agents, for example, in the supportive management of psoriasis. Moisturisers such as urea and glycerine, as well as hemp oil – which is naturally rich in essential fatty acids – help to maintain the skin’s elasticity. The accompanying skincare ingredients enhance long-lasting skin hydration, which can help to counteract the formation of new flakes and maintain an improved skin condition.

Active ingredients

• 100% naturally pure Dead Sea salt ( Maris Sal, Dead Sea Salts) binds moisture in the tissues, has a desquamating, anti-inflammatory and itch-relieving effect, and improves the condition of the skin.
• Dead Sea magnesium chloride (Magnesium Chloride, Dead Sea Magnesium Salt) works on the osmotic principle and, thanks to its magnesium-ion content, helps to bind moisture in the skin and prevent dryness.
• Frankincense ( Boswellia serrata gum), extracted from the resin of the Indian frankincense tree, contains boswellic acid, which has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.
• Devil’s Claw ( Harpagophytum procumbens root extract) grows predominantly in the arid regions of South Africa and has powerful anti-inflammatory, decongestant and soothing properties.
• Urea is a natural moisturising factor that binds moisture immediately and sustainably. It reduces roughness and tightness, even in extremely dry skin and very dry scalps, and also alleviates itching and skin redness.
• Hemp oil ( Cannabis sativa seed oil) consists of 70 to 80 per cent polyunsaturated fatty acids. Essential fatty acids, such as gamma-linolenic acid and linoleic acid, can prevent excessive moisture loss, drying out and cracking of the skin, and help to partially restore the skin’s lipids.

Directions for use

The ointment can be used over a prolonged period and is suitable for children aged 3 years and over. It is free from cortisone, fragrances, colourants, PEG and mineral oil.
