Calves
To stabilise water and electrolyte balance in the event of, during or following
gastrointestinal disturbances (diarrhoea):
Traditional method:
- Dosage: Dissolve 1 level measuring spoon (37.5 g) of Lytafit® powder in 1 litre of warm water.
- Feeding recommendation: Day 1: 3 to 4 feedings of 2 to 3 litres each, spread throughout the day, consisting solely of Lytafit® (solution in water). Or: In the morning and evening, feed milk or MAT, and in between, additionally up to 3 times, 2–3 litres of Lytafit® (solution in water) each time. Day 2 and onwards: In the morning and evening: milk or MAT. Additionally, in between, up to 3 times 2 litres of Lytafit® (solution in water) each time. Return to milk or MAT: For 1 day, feed ‘half-milk’ (a mixture of 1 part milk or milk replacer and 1 part Lytafit® solution).
- Total duration of feeding:As a complete feed: One to a maximum of three days. In combination with milk or milk replacer: until the consistency of the faeces returns to normal, but for a maximum of 7 days.
‘ORL’ direct-into-milk method (Leipzig Oral Rehydration Method):
- Dosage: Dissolve 1 level measuring spoon (37.5 g) of Lytafit® powder in 1 litre of warm milk/MAT.
- Feeding recommendation: Morning, midday and evening: Soak 2 litres of milk or MAT each time with the addition of 2 level measuring spoons of Lytafit® powder. Please note: Water must be available at all times for free access over a 24-hour period and must be consumed voluntarily.
- Total duration of feeding: The ‘ORL’ direct-into-milk method produces a nutritionally complete and high-energy drink. This drink should be fed until the consistency of the faeces returns to normal.Fluid supplementation is required during periods of particular stress following transport, during stable or feed changes: On day 1: 3 to 4 feedings throughout the day with Lytafit® only (solution in water, 2 to 3 litres each). Day 2 and onwards: milk or milk replacer.
Piglets
- To stabilise water and electrolyte balance in the event of, during or after digestive disorders (diarrhoea) or as a fluid supplement in the event of a milk shortage from the sow: 1 level measuring spoon (37.5 g) per litre of lukewarm water. Prepare a fresh batch several times a day. Supplement the diet as required using a shallow drinking trough.
- Note: If pathogenic E. coli bacteria are involved in gastrointestinal problems, effective oral antibiotic treatment must also be administered.

Feeding recommendations and instructions for proper use: Statutory
notice:
“The simultaneous feeding of milk should be avoided in animals with abomasal digestion
”. Extensive studies have demonstrated that Lytafit does
not interfere with abomasal digestion. It is recommended that you seek the advice of a veterinary surgeon before use or when extending
the feeding period.
Ingredients
- Composition: Glucose, sodium bicarbonate, sodium chloride, lactose, potassium chloride, calcium gluconate, magnesium acetate.
- Analytical constituents: Crude protein 7.50%, crude fat 0.50%, crude ash 16.50%, crude fibre 0.00%, calcium 0.13%, sodium 5.80%, potassium 1.30%, magnesium 0.06%, chlorides 3.60%, lysine 0.00%, methionine 0.00%.
- Additives per kg: Sensory additives: Flavour mixture 1,200 mg, glycine (2b17034) 75,000 mg. Technological additives: Silicic acid (E551a).
- Buffer capacity: at least 66 mmol/L per ready-to-feed portion (calculated using the SID method).
Easily available carbohydrates (glucose).
