DNA Fitness Test, 1 PK

Product information "DNA Fitness Test"
Individual nutritional requirements to protect your muscles and bones
Would you like to know which sports and which nutrition are just right for your fitness and how you can get the best out of yourself? Do you want to specifically strengthen your bones and muscles and reduce the risk of injury? Your genes can give you valuable information - for a training and nutrition plan that is customised down to the DNA.

The cerascreen® DNA Fitness Test analyses gene variants of 6 genes in a saliva sample. These gene variants provide information about your risk of oxidative stress and bone loss and which types of sport suit your endurance type and muscle fibre type.
- State-of-the-art DNA analysis of different gene variations
- Professional analysis in a specialised medical laboratory
- Recommendations for health and performance in sport
- According to the latest scientific findings
- Results within 2 weeks of sample receipt

The advantages of the DNA fitness test
Sporting performance is best achieved in harmony with your body. The DNA fitness analysis gives you an indication of your genetic make-up. This allows you to customise your diet and training to your individual needs.
With the cerascreen® DNA fitness test, you receive a DNA analysis using state-of-the-art biotechnology. You don't have to wait or travel to a clinic. You can take your sample discreetly and conveniently at home. The professional analysis is carried out by a specialised medical laboratory.

Your test result
As soon as your sample has been analysed, you will receive your results report via the my cerascreen® app or your user account on our website. You can easily view the report on your smartphone, tablet or computer and read it in printed form if required.
Use the laboratory analysis to find out how the characteristics of the 6 analysed gene variants can be interpreted. Learn from easy-to-use recommendations which sport could be particularly suitable for you and what you can look out for in terms of fitness. Comprehensive health information explains the role of your genes for cell health, bones, muscles and endurance.

Why should I test my fitness genes?
You probably have sports that you find easier than others and in which you have improved quickly. In others, however, you can't keep up with others - no matter how much you train. Why is that?
There is growing scientific evidence that our athleticism is anchored in our genes. Certain DNA characteristics can influence muscles, bones and endurance, among other things. Your DNA therefore determines your performance in certain sports, how enduring you are, how your muscles work and which risks you might be at.
The cerascreen® DNA Fitness Test helps you to find out about these correlations and to adapt your sports plan and diet accordingly.

Important: If the DNA analysis shows an increased risk for a disease, this does not automatically mean that you will develop this disease! These genetic predispositions are about probabilities and the possibility of problems occurring. Our recommendations on fitness and health are also useful for people who do not have these characteristics.

Who should take the test?
The test is interesting for all people who want to achieve performance in sport without compromising their health. It is worthwhile, for example, if you are just starting to play sport more intensively and want to minimise the risk of injury and optimise your performance right from the start.
If you already have problems with sport, for example frequent muscle injuries, the cerascreen® DNA Fitness Test may help you to get to the bottom of the causes.

How does the test work?
For the DNA Fitness Test, you take a small saliva sample from the oral mucosa. A cotton bud is included in the test kit, which you use to place the sample in the test tube. You then send the saliva sample back to us, where it will be analysed in a specialist medical laboratory.
The specialised laboratory will carry out a complex DNA analysis. How long the analysis takes depends on the quality of the sample provided - sometimes the laboratory has to repeat the analysis several times. It can therefore take up to four weeks before you receive the test result.

What do I need to bear in mind when carrying out the test?
The higher the quality of the sample, the faster and easier the laboratory can analyse it. You can help by adhering to the following guidelines when taking the sample:
  • You should not eat or drink anything for at least half an hour before the sample is taken.
  • Do not brush your teeth or use mouthwash or mouth rinse during this time.
  • Do not smoke in the half hour before the test is carried out.
  • The sample must be stored dry for 24 hours before it is sent off. During this time, the sample dries via the aeration membrane at the bottom of the sample tube.
What does the results report tell me?
Based on the 6 genes analysed, the results report provides you with information about genetic characteristics relating to your fitness. You will receive a possible interpretation and corresponding recommendations for your genetic tendencies.

The following aspects of your fitness are analysed:
- Tendency to oxidative stress
- Tendency to bone loss
- Endurance type
- Muscle fibre type

Which genes are analysed?
The cerascreen® Fitness Test uses modern biotechnology to analyse certain characteristics of five genes. These gene variants are also known as genotypes.
Here we present the genes and gene variants:
  • SOD2: The genotype analysed can lead to the two genes being produced to a lesser extent. This has an effect on the coding of certain antioxidants. The risk of oxidative stress could then be increased.
  • CoI1A1: The genotype analysed is associated with the formation of collagen and increased bone resorption.
  • VDR: The genotype analysed is associated with vitamin D activity and a decrease in bone density.
  • ADRB3: The genotype analysed is related to the control of fat metabolism and endurance performance in sports.
  • ACTN3: The genotype studied is related to how quickly your muscle fibres contract.
