The COVID-19 Antigen Assay (colloidal gold) is a qualitative test based on an immunoassay for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein antigens in swab samples. During this test, the sample reacts with an anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody conjugate on the pad coated with particles and then the mixture migrates upwards onto the membrane chromatogram by capillary action and reacts with a SARS-CoV-2 antibody in the detection zone. If the sample contains SARSCoV-2, a coloured line appears in the test line area, indicating a positive result. If the sample does not contain SARSCoV-2, no coloured line appears in this area, indicating a negative result. As a process control, a coloured line always appears in the area of the control line, indicating that a suitable sample volume has been added and membrane nucleation has taken place.
