Product information "Candibene 200 mg vaginal tablets"
Candibene 200 mg vaginal tablets are effective against virtually all pathogens that can cause vaginal fungal infections. It is also effective against some bacteria and certain protozoa (Trichomonas). Clotrimazole, the active ingredient in Candibene 200 mg vaginal tablets, inhibits the growth of fungi or kills them.
Clotrimazole acts on the surface of the mucous membrane, is rapidly absorbed into the mucous membrane and is also effective in the deeper layers of the mucous membrane.
Candibene 200 mg vaginal tablets are colourless and odourless and are generally well tolerated.
Candibene 200 mg vaginal tablets are used for:
- infectious discharge caused by fungi (Candida),
- vaginal inflammation caused by fungi (usually Candida species) and/or Trichomonas (certain protozoa),
- recurrent infection whilst a primary infection is still present (known as a superinfection) caused by bacteria that are sensitive to clotrimazole, the active ingredient in Candibene
To ensure the complete eradication of Trichomonas vaginalis infections, your doctor may prescribe an additional antibiotic.
If you do not feel any better, or if your symptoms worsen, after 3 days, contact your doctor.

Directions for use
Candibene 200 mg vaginal tablets should be inserted deep into the vagina once a day – in the evening – for 3 consecutive days using the applicator.
Note: The vaginal tablets require moisture to dissolve completely. If the vagina is dry, the vaginal tablet may not dissolve completely. This can be recognised by the passage of crumbly pieces of the tablet. To prevent this, it is important to insert the tablet as deeply as possible, preferably before going to bed.
If your partner has been diagnosed with a yeast infection of the glans and foreskin, he must also undergo local treatment with suitable preparations.
Method of use
Candibene 200 mg vaginal tablets should ideally be inserted as deeply as possible into the vagina whilst lying on your back with your legs slightly bent, using the applicator.
During pregnancy, the vaginal tablets should be used without the applicator.
Using Candibene 200 mg vaginal tablets with the applicator:
- Remove the vaginal tablet from the aluminium foil and place it into the recess of the applicator.
- The applicator with the vaginal tablet is then inserted as deeply as possible into the vagina. The vaginal tablet is placed in the vagina by carefully pushing the inner rod A all the way in.
- After use, remove the applicator from the vagina and clean it thoroughly with warm water. To clean, pull the inner rod A completely out of the applicator B. Caution when cleaning: Do not use boiling water!
Using Candibene 200 mg vaginal tablets without an applicator:
- The vaginal tablet can also be inserted into the vagina by hand. Please wash your hands thoroughly before and after use.
Duration of treatment
Generally, a 3-day course of treatment is sufficient for vaginal inflammation, particularly when caused by fungi. If necessary, a second 3-day course of treatment may be carried out; however, recurrent infections may indicate an underlying condition. If symptoms recur within 2 months, further investigation should be considered. Generally, the symptoms of a vaginal yeast infection (such as itching, discharge and a burning sensation) subside significantly within the first four days of starting treatment.
