Burgerstein L-Lysine 500 mg tablets are a dietary supplement containing the essential amino acid L-lysine. The body cannot produce this amino acid itself and it must therefore be obtained from food.

L-lysine is the counterpart to the amino acid L-arginine. A deficiency in L-lysine leads to growth disorders and reduced immune function. As lysine is mainly found in animal-based foods, vegans find it more difficult to meet their requirements. It should also be noted that some good natural sources of minerals, such as wheat germ, pumpkin seeds and porridge, are also rich in arginine.

L-lysine supports:

as an essential amino acid that cannot be produced by the body itself
the immune system
the body in fighting the herpes virus (cold sores)
in vegetarian or vegan diets L-lysine is found primarily in animal products such as eggs, cheese, meat and fish. Vegans and vegetarians in particular should therefore ensure they have an adequate supply of lysine
indirectly the formation and maintenance of cartilage, bones, tendons, etc.

The delicate skin of the lips is particularly susceptible to infection. The virus, which lies dormant in the nerve cells, can become active again under certain conditions. Factors responsible for the subsequent reactivation of dormant herpes viruses include, amongst others, disturbances in the body’s own immune defences.

A healthy immune system provides good protection against recurrent cold sore outbreaks. A balanced diet, moderate exercise, sufficient sleep and avoiding excessive alcohol and cigarettes all contribute to this. Mental strain and stress, which are known to increase the risk of cold sores, should be avoided as far as possible.

Ingredients: L-lysine hydrochloride, fillers (cellulose, calcium phosphate, fatty acids), anti-caking agents (cellulose, calcium phosphate, magnesium salts of fatty acids), coating agents (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, glycerine), stabilisers (rice husk concentrate, rice extract).
