Burgerstein L-lysine 500 mg tablets are a dietary supplement containing the essential amino acid L-lysine. This cannot be produced by the body itself and must therefore be supplied with food.

L-lysine is the antagonist of the amino acid L-arginine. A deficiency of L-lysine leads to growth disorders and reduced immune function. As lysine is mainly found in animal foods, vegans have a harder time meeting their requirements. It should also be noted that some good natural mineral sources such as wheat germ, pumpkin seeds and oatmeal are also rich in arginine.

L-lysine supports:

as a vital amino acid that cannot be produced by the body itself
the immune system
the body in the fight against the herpes virus (cold sores)
in a vegetarian or vegan diet L-lysine is mainly found in animal products such as eggs, cheese, meat and fish. Vegans and vegetarians in particular should therefore ensure that they have an adequate supply of lysine
indirectly supports the formation and maintenance of cartilage, bones, tendons, etc.

The sensitive skin of the lips is particularly susceptible to infections. The dormant virus in the nerve cells can become active again under certain conditions, and the subsequent reactivation of dormant herpes viruses can be caused by disorders of the body's own immune defence.

An intact immune system is a good defence against recurring cold sore attacks. A balanced diet, moderate exercise, sufficient sleep and avoiding too much alcohol and cigarettes contribute to this. Mental strain and stress, which are known to increase the risk of cold sores, should be avoided as far as possible.

Ingredients: L-lysine hydrochloride, bulking agents (cellulose, calcium phosphates, fatty acids), anti-caking agents (cellulose, calcium phosphates, magnesium salts of fatty acids), glazing agents (hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, glycerol), stabilisers (rice husk concentrate, rice extract).
