- Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body, accounting for 30 per cent of total protein. As a so-called structural protein, the body’s own collagen – much like a scaffold – provides support for bones, joints, muscles and tendons. It also ensures the elasticity of the skin and connective tissue. The body constantly produces its own collagen, mainly from the amino acids glycine, proline and hydroxyproline.
- However, collagen production decreases with age. The result is that the skin becomes increasingly wrinkled, the muscles lose elasticity, the tendons become less flexible, the bones become brittle and problems arise in the joints. This is particularly true when joints have to be immobilised for a prolonged period due to injury: this leads to a shortening of the collagen fibres in the capsular ligament apparatus. As soon as the joint starts moving and bearing weight again, the fibres lengthen once more, as the mechanical stress on the connective tissue increases its collagen content.
- At less than 10,000 g/mol, the individual molecules of collagen peptides are lighter than gelatine molecules. They are also highly water-soluble and do not form a gel, even in a highly concentrated solution.
- During the production of collagen for use in cosmetics or food supplements, a hydrolysis process takes place. This makes it easier for the body to process, enabling it to work effectively. Collagen peptides and hydrolysed collagen both describe the same end result of this process.

Absolut empfehlenswert
Im Vergleich zu anderen Kollagenprodukten ist dieses Pulver um einiges besser, weil man nur 2,5 g pro Tag nehmen muss. Aus diesem Grund kommt man mit der 300 g Packung sehr lange aus und daher ist der Preis auch vertretbar.

guter Kauf
Habe dieses Kollagenpulver bestellt, weil man im Gegensatz zu anderen Produkten nur 2,5 g/Tag einnehmen muss. Der Preis war auch top und die Lieferung erfolgte - obwohl mir 7-14 Tagen angegeben - innerhalb von 2 Werktagen. Alles in allem bin ich äußerst zufrieden und werde sicher wieder bestellen.
