Our brain is in use 24 hours a day and works without the slightest interruption. Even when we sleep, our brain does not switch off. It is one of the most active organs in the body and consumes 20 % of our daily energy requirements, although it only accounts for 2 % of the body's dimensions.

The metabolism of the brain and nerves is dependent on an adequate supply of nutrients. As our body cannot produce these nutrients itself and cannot store them for long, we need to get enough of them regularly with our food.

• Energy metabolism and nerve function: Vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12, niacin and biotin contribute to the normal function of the nervous system and to normal energy metabolism.
