• Ginkgo: Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba) is a tree species that originated in China and is now cultivated worldwide. Ginkgo is said to have a positive effect on memory and improve the flow properties of the blood. The flavonoids help when mental fitness declines or when concentration is poor.
• Ginseng: Ginseng is one of the best known and most popular medicinal plants in Asia. The ginseng root contains various active ingredients, the ginsenosides, which are responsible for a large part of the effect of ginseng. Ginseng is particularly suitable as a general tonic: ginseng is said to promote concentration and alertness, combat stress and stimulate the production of neurotransmitters. The root can be used to invigorate and strengthen in cases of tiredness and weakness. It is said to make the body more resistant to pathogens and help combat exhaustion.
• B vitamins: The eight B vitamins are responsible for numerous metabolic functions in the body. Among other things, they support concentration and provide energy. Together they ensure that macronutrients such as lipids (fats), sugar (carbohydrates) and proteins can be optimally utilised. Some B vitamins contribute to normal energy metabolism by converting glucose. Certain B vitamins also support the functions of the nervous and immune systems, haematopoiesis and the development of nerve cells.
• Vitamin C: (water-soluble) vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is probably the best known of all vitamins. It is mainly found in citrus fruits and fresh vegetables and is involved in many metabolic processes. The positive effect of vitamin C on the immune system is particularly well known. The body needs the vitamin for a strong immune system. Vitamin C is important for the formation of connective tissue (collagen) and for wound healing. It also promotes the absorption and utilisation of iron from plant foods.
• Vitamin E: Vitamin E is a cell protection vitamin. It protects the body's cells from harmful influences, such as aggressive oxygen compounds (free radicals).
• Iron: Iron is a mineral and an important building block of the red blood pigment, haemoglobin. It is involved in the transport of oxygen in the body and is involved in haematopoiesis and metabolic processes.
• Folic acid: Folic acid is also known as vitamin B9 and is a vitamin that humans cannot produce themselves. It plays a decisive role in cell growth and the formation of red and white blood cells. Recent findings suggest that folic acid contributes to protection against cardiovascular disease.
