Product information "Betaisodona® solution standardised"
Betaisodona® standardised solution is an antiseptic for use on skin, mucous membranes and wounds - such as nail beds or piercings.
What is Betaisodona and what is it used for?
- Povidone-iodine has a comprehensive germicidal effect. It is effective against bacteria, fungi, spores, viruses and certain protozoa. Reliable disinfection largely prevents infections and favours rapid, problem-free healing.
- The development of resistance of infectious agents to povidone-iodine is not to be feared due to its mode of action. By binding to povidone, the iodine largely loses the irritating properties of alcoholic iodine preparations and is well tolerated by the skin, mucous membranes and wounds. The iodine discolours during the action process, the depth of the brown colouring therefore indicates its effectiveness. If discolouration occurs, a subsequent dose is required. Povidone iodine is water-soluble and easy to wash off.
Fields of application
- Skin and mucous membrane disinfection, for example before operations, gynaecological and obstetric procedures, bladder catheterisation, tissue removal (biopsies), injections, punctures for fluid or blood collection,
- eye operations,
- Antiseptic wound treatment, burns
