Asmoken 1.5 mg tablets are an over-the-counter medicine containing the active ingredient cytisine. Taking Asmoken enables a gradual reduction in nicotine dependence by alleviating withdrawal symptoms.

Smoking cessation and reduction of nicotine cravings in smokers who are willing to give up smoking. The aim of treatment with Asmoken is to permanently stop the use or consumption of nicotine-containing products.

Asmoken works thanks to^cytisine1 – it helps you wean yourself off nicotine and alleviates withdrawal symptoms

Cytisine increases dopamine levels in the brain, thereby alleviating withdrawal symptoms.
Cytisine and nicotine compete for the same nicotine receptors.
Due to its high affinity for the target receptors, cytisine gradually displaces the nicotine.
The result is fewer receptors occupied by nicotine.
Reduced craving for nicotine.
Once treatment has ended (25 days), cytisine is excreted from the body and the patient no longer experiences any craving for nicotine.

¹ Cytisine is a plant-based alkaloid derived from laburnum seeds.

The way it works requires a strict treatment regimen

One pack of Asmoken contains 100 tablets.
One pack is sufficient for the entire course of treatment.
Smoking must be stopped by the 5th day of treatment at the latest, as otherwise side effects may occur more frequently.
The customer therefore saves on the cost of cigarettes for 20 days whilst taking the treatment (at 20 cigarettes per day =^{a saving of} €120^² – ² Example: 20 cigarettes (1 packet) per day: 20 days without smoking × €6 per packet per day = €120 saved)

Directions for use

One pack of Asmoken (100 tablets) is sufficient for a full course of treatment. The treatment lasts 25 days. Asmoken is a medicine for oral use. The tablets should be taken with a sufficient amount of water according to the following schedule.

For adults aged 18 to 65 only:

Days 1 to 3: 1 tablet every 2 hours 6 tablets
From day 4 to day 12: 1 tablet every 2½ hours 5 tablets
From day 13 to day 16: 1 tablet every 3 hours 4 tablets
From day 17 to day 20: 1 tablet every 5 hours 3 tablets
From day 21 to day 25: 1–2 tablets per day up to 2 tablets

Smoking must be stopped by the 5th day of treatment at the latest. Smoking must not be continued during treatment, as this may lead to increased side effects. If the treatment fails, it must be discontinued and may be resumed after 2 to 3 months.

Notes:

If you have taken more Asmoken than you should: An overdose of Asmoken may cause symptoms of nicotine poisoning. Symptoms of overdose include feeling unwell, nausea, vomiting, a rapid pulse, fluctuations in blood pressure, breathing difficulties, blurred vision or seizures. If you experience any of the symptoms listed above or develop other symptoms not described in this leaflet, stop taking Asmoken and speak to your doctor or pharmacist.
If you forget to take Asmoken: Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

Ingredients

What Asmoken contains: The active ingredient is cytisine. One tablet contains 1.5 mg of cytisine.
The other ingredients are: mannitol, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, glycerol dibehenate, hypromellose.
