- The term tea tree (Melaleuca) covers several species of shrubs and trees of the Melaleuca genus, which belongs to the myrtle family. The most important tea tree is the Melaleuca Alternifolia species found in Australia, from which alva tea tree oil is extracted.
- The essential oil from the leaves and branch tips is used. It is obtained using steam distillation, which is gentle on the active ingredients. Tea tree oil is mostly used in dermatology due to its antiseptic, bactericidal and fungicidal effects. Gently extracted by steam distillation, the high-energy active ingredients from the leaves and twig tips of the Australian Melaleuca Alternifolia can unfold their full power. Thanks to its antimicrobial effect, it can be used in a variety of ways and should not be missing in any household or when travelling.

The plants are grown on small plots of land in order to avoid monocultures, large-scale deforestation and the associated damage to the groundwater table. Irrigation is carried out using sprinklers directly after planting and during extreme droughts. No synthetic sprays or fertilisers are used, weed control is carried out by livestock and manual labour, pest control is controlled by hand or by nature itself. With a great deal of labour, this only results in small yields, in addition to the costly inspections by the associations. But what remains is a naturally pure essential oil from controlled organic cultivation and wild growth, without favouring monoculture, directly from the parent plant Melaleuca Alternifolia, without blending with oils from other species. This is the only way to obtain a high-energy oil of excellent quality according to the alva principle.
