Thanks to its unique combination of active ingredients, Algesal is particularly effective against pain. Myrtecaine provides rapid pain relief and relaxes the muscles, whilst diethylamine salicylate provides long-lasting relief from inflammation.

Back pain: a widespread condition

• Almost everyone is familiar with back pain. It has now become a widespread condition and often robs patients of any enjoyment they might otherwise derive from physical activity. The aim is therefore to become pain-free as quickly as possible, or at least to reduce the pain to a tolerable level.
• However, as the pain is often protracted and persistent, this presents a problem for treatment – on the one hand, painkillers should work well and quickly; on the other hand, they should also be suitable for long-term use. Whilst painkillers do provide short-term relief, long-term use can damage the stomach lining and cause other side effects.

What can be done about chronic back pain?

• The recommended treatment for chronic pain is therefore pain-relieving creams. These can be used long-term as a basic treatment, and the risk of side effects is very low. Furthermore, pain-relieving creams act locally, i.e. exactly where the pain is felt. If pain flares up, you can still take tablets for a short time as a supplement.

The unique combination of active ingredients for pain relief

• What makes Algesal special is its unique combination of two pain-relieving active ingredients: myrtecaine and salicylate.
• The local anaesthetic myrtecaine relieves pain immediately after application and relaxes the muscles. This relaxation of the muscles improves blood circulation at the site of the pain and alleviates any tension-related pain.
• Salicylate penetrates deep into the tissue and has anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects. It is responsible for Algesal’s long-lasting effect.
• Myrtecain also increases the absorption of salicylate into the skin. This allows the salicylate to penetrate particularly effectively and in high concentrations to the site of pain. As a result, inflammation and pain are specifically targeted for up to 12 hours.

Directions for use

Apply a thin layer of Algesal Pain Relief Cream to the painful area 2 to 3 times a day and massage in gently. The cream effectively relieves pain and inflammation, with effects lasting up to 12 hours. Thanks to its excellent skin tolerance and a formula that has been tried and tested for decades, Algesal is also suitable for long-term use in cases of chronic conditions.

Ingredients

The active ingredients are: diethylamine salicylate and myrtecaine.

100 g of cream contain 10 g of diethylamine salicylate and 1 g of myrtecaine.

The other ingredients are: macrogol glycerol ricinoleate, ethylene glycol monopalmitostearate, glycerol monostearate 40–55, cetylstearyl alcohol, hydrochloric acid solution, macrogol stearate 300, light paraffin oil, macrogol glycerol linoleate, lavender fragrance (contains camphor), purified water.
