3M™ Silvercel™ Non-Adherent is a sterile, silver-containing hydroalginate wound dressing designed for the treatment of moderately to heavily exuding wounds at risk of infection or infection.

What is it about?

The Silvercel non-adherent wound dressing is a non-woven wound dressing consisting of alginate, carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and silver-coated nylon fibres. The Silvercel non-adherent wound dressing also has a non-adherent wound spacer mesh.

Antimicrobial effect

• Ensures sustained release of silver ions for up to 7 ^days*4
• Effective in vitro against a broad spectrum of wound pathogens, including MRSA, MRSE and VRE1^{, 3}

Absorbency

• Suitable for wounds with moderate to heavy ^exudation5
• Enables effective control of ^exudate6
• Helps maintain a moist wound environment that promotes wound ^healing6

When should the product be used?

Both the Silvercel non-adherent wound dressing and the Silvercel dressing are suitable for chronic and acute wounds with moderate to heavy exudate such as

• Pressure ulcers
• Venous ulcers
• Diabetic foot ulcers
• Split skin donor sites
• Traumatic and surgical wounds
• Superficial wounds

The Silvercel non-adherent wound dressing can be used under compression bandages5 in some circumstances and can be combined with a non-occlusive secondary dressing.

As the product contains alginate, it can help to manage minor bleeding in superficial wounds. Under medical supervision, it is also suitable for treating infected wounds or wounds where there is an increased risk of infection.
