Product information "sanicare® Irrigator 1 litre, complete"

Beipackzettel ansehen

The Sanicare® Irrigator with 1 litre volume for thorough and gentle bowel irrigation. The complete set contains everything you need for easy use and supports your personal hygiene.

The irrigator is used to introduce fluids into the bowel, stimulate peristalsis and thereby empty the bowel. The enema fluid is administered using an irrigator (container or collapsible bag), which is suspended in an elevated position relative to the patient and therefore has a correspondingly long tube. The elevated position of the irrigator creates a gradient and therefore hydrodynamic pressure so that the fluid can flow into the rectum. Many patients are unable to carry out the procedure themselves and are therefore dependent on an assistant.

The irrigator consists of a plastic container with a hose connection, a connecting hose and a valve with a cannula. An enema attachment or a so-called mother tube for vaginal irrigation can be attached to the valve.

Areas of application

  • Constipation: The continuous use of synthetic and herbal laxatives deprives the body of important blood salts and favours further constipation due to this deficiency.
  • Febrile infections: Relief of the entire organism with a slight antipyretic effect.
  • Therapeutic fasting: Only the complete emptying of the bowel prevents fermentation and putrefaction of faecal residues and associated complaints such as headaches or allergic reactions. Cleansing once at the beginning is not sufficient.
  • Preparation for invasive diagnostic or therapeutic measures, as well as birth preparation.

Dosage form

Irrigator, completely made of plastic, with tube, with irrigator set (1 litre, graduation every 250 ml, consisting of: Irrigator cup made of PP, irrigator tube made of PVC (length approx. 125 cm))

Application

  • You will need an irrigator beaker, hose, tap, enema tube and, if necessary, a flexible disposable bowel tube. The enema can be performed by someone you trust or, with a little practice, by yourself.
  • Fill the irrigator with approx. 750 ml of lukewarm tap water (additives such as camomile tea are only necessary for inflammatory bowel diseases).
  • Moisten the tube and attach it to the spout on the cup.
  • Put the tap on the other side of the moistened tube and close it.
  • Screw on the enema tube and, if necessary, attach the flexible enema aid/bowel tube or - for vaginal irrigation - screw on the mother tube.
  • Make the tip of the enema aid or enema tube (bowel tube) more slippery with a little ointment or milking fat.
  • With the patient lying on his left side, slowly insert the bowel tube or enema tube into the anus and carefully push it forward.
  • Do not forcefully overcome any resistance that may occur, but pull the tube back slightly and then slowly push it forward again.
  • Raise the irrigator until the water level is about 30-50 cm above the tip of the intestinal tube. Open the tap and allow the liquid to flow in. Once the enema is complete, close the tap and remove the intestinal tube from the bowel. The enema should be held for 5 - 10 minutes.
  • If pain occurs, lower the irrigator slightly to slow down the enema speed.

Avoid the following mistakes:

  • Applying too little ointment to the tip of the bowel tube.
  • Forcibly overcoming resistance during insertion.
  • Placing the intestinal tube only in the rectal area (strong urge to evacuate right at the beginning of the application)
  • Letting the liquid enter too quickly (the bowel must slowly get used to the change in bowel volume)
  • If carried out correctly, the enema is a beneficial and relieving method of detoxifying the body. Do not use in the case of ileus (bowel obstruction), bleeding or anal fissures. Chronic constipation should only be treated occasionally with an enema. A change in diet and plenty of exercise promote regular bowel evacuation.
