For the targeted intake of Griffonia extract
- The climbing shrub Griffonia simplicifolia, also known as the "African black bean", is native to the rainforests of West Africa.
- The seeds of the plant are the main source of 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP), a naturally occurring amino acid. In the body, it is formed from the essential amino acid L-tryptophan and is chemically an intermediate product that is required for the production of serotonin.
- Although serotonin is contained in some foods, it cannot cross the brain barrier in this form and therefore has to be constantly produced in the brain. Serotonin is also known to many people as the "happiness hormone", as it is involved in regulating mood and well-being in addition to numerous other processes.
