The octenisept® solution is a disinfectant for external use and for use on mucous membranes. Octenidine has a comprehensive germicidal effect. It is effective against bacteria, fungi and certain viruses.
The development of resistance of infectious agents to octenidine is not to be feared due to its mode of action.
Fields of application

- In the oral cavity, e.g. before tooth extractions or curettage (surgical removal of tissue), in the urogenital tract, e.g. before hysterectomies (surgical removal of the uterus) and in the rectal area (e.g. before cauterisation of haemorrhoids).

How to use
- For use on the (mucous) skin.
- Apply to the areas to be disinfected. For pack sizes 50 ml and 100 ml, spray onto the areas to be disinfected. If necessary, rinsing can also be carried out, particularly in the oral cavity. Wet the areas to be disinfected completely and leave to act for 1 minute.
- When rinsing the oral cavity, rinse intensively with approx. 20 ml Octenisept for 20 seconds and allow an additional exposure time of one minute. Octenisept is used undiluted. The solution is not suitable for ingestion.
- For skin disinfection (e.g. before a caesarean section), the undiluted preparation should be left to act for 2 minutes.
- The contact time must always be observed and must not be shortened by drying beforehand.
- For vaginal application, the spray cap of the applicator must be pressed down ten times in succession, see Use of the applicator spray head. After the end of vaginal therapy with Octenisept, it is recommended to build up the vaginal flora using vaginal capsules containing lactobacilli in order to favour the restoration of the natural bacterial balance. Use in children and adolescents
- application is identical for children, adolescents and adults.
