The exotic shrub Strophanthus Gratus, a type of liana, grows in the dry, hot forests of East Africa, often in mountainous regions. Young, egg-shaped leaves are hairy and later become wrinkled. From October to December, the plant bears white flowers in pairs with long, spiral-shaped petals. These develop into pairs of pod-like seed pods, which burst open when ripe, releasing wind-dispersed seeds with pappus.
