hafesan Visio Plus capsules contain the natural ingredients lutein, zeaxanthin and beta-carotene, as well as vitamins C and E and zinc.
Lutein and zeaxanthin are important components of the macula lutea in the eye (the area responsible for sharpest vision). Lutein, zeaxanthin and beta-carotene are carotenoids – pigments that are widely found in the plant kingdom. However, the body cannot produce them itself. Experts therefore recommend regular intake of these important substances.
- *Vitamin A (present in the form of beta-carotene) is a component of the visual pigment and is therefore of great importance for maintaining eyesight; for this reason, it is often referred to as the ‘eye vitamin’. Vitamin A also helps maintain healthy skin and mucous membranes.
- Zinc is an essential trace element and an important cell-protecting factor (‘free radical scavenger’). Free radicals are produced during many metabolic reactions in the body and as a result of environmental stressors (e.g. radiation, pollutants). Like vitamins C and E, zinc is an antioxidant that protects cells – including those in the eye – from this oxidative stress.
- Vitamin C plays an important role in regenerating the reduced form of vitamin E, enabling vitamin E to be reused as an antioxidant (‘free radical scavenger’) in the body.
