Areas of application

Universal cleaning and disinfection of all types of thermostable and thermolabile medical instruments. Particularly suitable for flexible endoscopes and sensitive materials such as silicone, polycarbonate, polysulfone and acrylic glass. In addition to manual reprocessing, gigasept® pearls are also suitable for use in ultrasonic baths.

Special instructions

Always read the label and product information before use. Not suitable for copper instruments or for mechanically damaged chrome or nickel-plated instruments. The addition of special additives buffers the pH value of gigasept® pearls to a neutral range. This prevents protein coagulation (fixation of proteins on surfaces) and also achieves optimum material compatibility. If small amounts of application solution are carried over from pre-cleaning, no interactions with detergents and disinfectants from automated endoscope reprocessing (e.g. glutaraldehyde and peracetic acid-based) are to be expected. Slight colour variations in gigasept® pearls do not affect the product quality.

Application

The instrument disinfection granulate is diluted with cold water to the desired application concentration. Dosage: 1 % - 2 % depending on microbiological effectiveness. The solution is prepared using the enclosed dosing spoon/cup. Application example: 10 litres of a 2 % working solution corresponds to 9.8 litres of water and 200 g (200 g = 300 ml) of gigasept® pearls. Add water and stir several times during the first 15 minutes after sprinkling in the corresponding amount of granules; after this activation time, the working solution is ready for use. Small undissolved residues do not impair the effectiveness of the working solution, but represent an effective activity depot. Place the endoscopes and instruments to be reprocessed in the working solution. Ensure complete wetting, even with hollow-body instruments, and allow to take effect. After reprocessing, rinse/rinse the instruments thoroughly with water of at least drinking water quality, preferably with demineralised water, to completely remove any residues of the working solution. Please follow the instrument manufacturer's reprocessing recommendations. Do not mix with detergents or other disinfectants. According to Krinko/BfArM recommendations, cleaning and disinfection must be carried out in separate work steps. Service life: Renew the working solution every working day and if contamination is clearly visible.
