Product benefits of gigasept® PAA concentrate base and additives

  • Liquid concentrate – effective immediately after preparation
  • Excellent material compatibility, even with sensitive materials
  • Effective against mycobacteria, yeasts, viruses and spores (including Clostridia)
  • Short contact time
  • pH-neutral
  • Indications

For the manual disinfection of endoscopes and selected medical devices and accessories. The addition of special additives buffers the pH value of gigasept® PAA concentrate to a neutral range to ensure optimum material compatibility.

Product properties

The liquid two-component system offers the following advantages for the use of gigasept® PAA concentrate:

  • reliable storage stability
  • very easy to use without dosing aids
  • high dosing accuracy
  • Immediate and comprehensive efficacy, as no activation is required
  • the working solution is clear immediately after preparation
  • Excellent material compatibility thanks to precise pH adjustment and the addition of a corrosion inhibitor
  • Wide-ranging effectiveness

Special notes

Always read the label and product information before use. gigasept® PAA concentrate Component A contains an active, stabilised equilibrium peracetic acid. Component B provides phosphates and other corrosion inhibitors, as well as alkali for pH adjustment. When the working solution is prepared by diluting with water and mixing the two components together, a virtually neutral, buffered solution with a pH of approx. 6 is produced.

Application

Instructions for use: To prepare the desired working solution, first measure out the required amount of water. Then empty the twin-bottle (components A and B simultaneously) completely into the water. Care must be taken to ensure that the concentrates of the components do not come into contact with one another. For every 5 l of water, the entire contents of one double bottle must be added to obtain a 2 % working solution (calculated on the basis of Component A). One dual-chamber bottle dosed into 10 litres of water yields a 1% working solution (a corresponding dosing table can be found at www.schuelke.com.). Place the endoscopes and instruments to be reprocessed into the working solution immediately after use. Ensure that the previously cleaned surfaces are completely wetted. Place hollow instruments in such a way that air escapes completely from the lumen. After reprocessing, rinse the instruments thoroughly with water of at least drinking water quality, or preferably fully demineralised water, to completely remove any residues of the disinfectant solution. Please observe the reprocessing recommendations of the instrument manufacturers. Do not mix with cleaners or other disinfectants. Components A and B must always be used together! Shelf life: The shelf life of the uncontaminated working solution is a maximum of 12 hours. If contamination is clearly visible, the working solution must be replaced before the end of this period. Interactions: If small quantities of the working solution are carried over from the pre-cleaning stage, no interactions with cleaning agents or disinfectants used in automated endoscope reprocessing (e.g. those based on glutaraldehyde or peracetic acid) are to be expected. Material compatibility: Thanks to a carefully balanced two-component formulation, it has been possible to guarantee a very broad spectrum of activity combined with exceptionally good and practical material compatibility. Do not exceed the recommended concentration and contact time. Not suitable for instruments made of brass and copper, or for mechanically damaged chrome-plated or nickel-plated instruments. Sporicidal efficacy: In addition to testing in accordance with EN 14347, a practical pathogen challenge test was carried out in line with the DGHM standard methods, confirming efficacy against the test pathogen Clostridium difficile (2% – 5 mins) under high-load conditions.
