- Krill feeds on microalgae, the actual source of the red pigment astaxanthin. It is naturally present in krill oil and, in Premium Krill Oil + Vitamin D, is additionally added in its natural form from the Haematococcus pluvialis algae, meaning that each capsule contains 3 mg of astaxanthin (in other brands, the astaxanthin content is often only in the microgram range). The high astaxanthin content is visually evident from the black colour (the capsule shell itself is colourless). Astaxanthin is a powerful antioxidant and reduces oxidative processes – which, amongst other things, benefits product quality.
- Vitamin K2 contributes to normal blood clotting and to the maintenance of normal bones.
