The Wellion SENSOR provides 10 days of accurate, continuous glucose monitoring. With the intuitive AiDEX SENSOR app, you can keep track of your readings at all times and optimise your diabetes management.
The Wellion SENSOR is a system for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM).
The system consists of three parts, all of which are necessary to read your glucose levels in real time.
- Wellion SENSOR Base: Replaced at least every 10 days. It contains the sensor thread that measures the tissue glucose level. The Wellion SENSOR Base is part of the Wellion SENSOR CGM system and can only be used in combination with a Wellion SENSOR Transmitter.
- Wellion SENSOR Transmitter: This transmits the readings from the sensor thread. It has a guaranteed lifespan of 4 years. The transmitter is reusable (only the base is replaced every 10 days).
- Wellion AiDEX SENSOR app: The app receives the readings from the transmitter and is used to view the data. The app is available for Android and iOS.
The Wellion SENSOR base is replaced at least every 10 days.
Thanks to its small and flat design, the Wellion SENSOR can be worn very discreetly. It is roughly the size of a 2-euro coin.
Even swimming is no problem, as the Wellion SENSOR complies with the IP27 standard and is therefore waterproof . It can even be submerged for up to 30 minutes at a depth of one metre.
How does the Wellion SENSOR measure tissue glucose?
The Wellion SENSOR base contains a sensor thread which is inserted under the skin into the subcutaneous fatty tissue using the applicator supplied. Here, the sensor continuously measures the glucose level in the tissue fluid every 5 minutes.
The Wellion SENSOR Transmitter is attached to the Wellion SENSOR Base. This is used for data transmission and is paired with the Wellion AiDEX SENSOR app. After a warm-up period of just 1 hour, you can view your glucose level in ‘real time’ in the Wellion AiDEX SENSOR app. The Wellion SENSOR is pre-calibrated, so there is no need to calibrate it by entering a blood glucose reading.
The Wellion SENSOR base must be replaced at least every 10 days. The Wellion transmitter has a guaranteed lifespan of 4 years and is reusable. You should therefore take good care of the Wellion SENSOR transmitter.
Keep your readings under control – with the Wellion AiDEX SENSOR app
- Thanks to continuous and automatic data transmission (every 5 minutes), you can react immediately to fluctuations or gain an insight into how certain meals affect your glucose levels.
- You can choose how extensively you wish to use the app. The most important information is displayed at a glance on the home screen. It shows a summary of your glucose trend and indicates to what extent your readings over the last 6, 12 or 24 hours have been within your target range.
- Thanks to its numerous features, the Wellion AiDEX SENSOR app also enables detailed data management, giving you the opportunity to get to know your body better.
- Background colour: Use the background colour of your home screen to see whether your current reading is within your target range or above or below it. If your current reading is within your target range, the home screen appears with a green background. If your reading is too high, the home screen has an orange background. If it is too low, it is displayed in red. When using the app in dark mode, the circle around the current glucose reading and the trend arrows appear in green, orange or red.
- In addition, the readings in the history graph are colour-coded as soon as they fall outside the target range.
- Trend arrows: The trend arrows show your current glucose trend – for example, whether your reading is stable, or how quickly it is rising or falling. This allows you to recognise earlier how your glucose curve is developing and take corrective action as needed. This can help you stay within the target range more effectively.
- Alarm function: Set your own limits for high and low glucose levels – you will be alerted by a sound and/or vibration should your levels fall below or exceed these limits. The target range displayed on the home screen is determined by the limits you have set for high and low levels. You will also receive a warning if the transmitter signal is lost. The maximum transmission range is 2 metres. Should you lose the transmitter signal, the data will be automatically backfilled as soon as the connection is re-established.
- Share function: Share your readings with people of your choice (for example, within your family) so that they can take action if necessary. Any alarms you have set are also shared.
- Event markers: Record when you have eaten, administered insulin or taken medication. You can also log physical activities. These markers are not included in any calculations; they are intended solely to provide supplementary information alongside the measured readings.
- CGM Report: Within the app, you can generate a CGM report as a PDF, which contains a structured and graphical representation of your sensor data (including your ambulatory glucose profile (AGP), time in range (TIR), eHbA1c and many other parameters). You can send the report directly from your smartphone using the ‘Share’ function, e.g. to your doctor or another recipient of your choice. View a complete sample report here.
