Wellion GALILEO GLU/KET BTE: Measuring blood glucose and ketones
For people with diabetes, measuring blood glucose is part of their daily routine. Glucose is the body’s main source of energy.
With the Wellion GALILEO GLU/KET BTE meter, you can now measure your blood glucose and ketones and transfer the results via Bluetooth. Manage your data using the Wellion SiDiary app – for your personal diabetes management. The Wellion SiDiary app is available to download from Google Play and the Apple App Store.
Simply insert the Wellion GALILEO blood glucose test strip into the test strip slot. The meter activates automatically to draw the blood drop onto the tip of the test strip. After the countdown, the Wellion GALILEO GLU/KET BTE blood glucose meter displays the current reading in large digits on the screen. The illuminated test strip slot is particularly handy, as it allows you to take a reading even in low light (e.g. at night in bed, or at the cinema).
The body can only utilise glucose for energy if sufficient insulin is also present. If insulin is lacking, the body must resort to fatty acids as an alternative energy source – this produces ketones, which, in high concentrations, can lead to life-threatening diabetic ketoacidosis. For this reason, when blood glucose levels are high, the level of ketones in the blood should also be measured in order to prevent the development of diabetic ketoacidosis in good time.
Hyperwarning / Ketoacidosis Detection Threshold
The hyperalarm limit is ideal for helping you to identify a risk of ketoacidosis in good time. If your meter displays a hyperalarm at the same time as your glucose reading, it is advisable to carry out a ketone test.
You can carry out a ketone test directly using your Wellion GALILEO GLU/KET BTE meter and a Wellion GALILEO ketone test strip. These are individually packaged, so you can carry one or two in your meter case at any time and be fully prepared even when out and about. No coding is required; the meter automatically recognises which test strip is being used.
The Wellion GALILEO GLU/KET BTE blood glucose metres exceed all the criteria of the new EN ISO 15197:2015 standard.
The study ‘System accuracy assessments with a blood glucose meter with combined glucose and ß-hydroxybutyrate measurement capabilities’ demonstrates the high accuracy of ± 10% of the Wellion GALILEO metres when measuring glucose.
The Wellion GALILEO GLU/KET BTE meter can also be a reliable companion if you wish to measure your ketone levels as part of a ketogenic diet. Measure easily with just a single drop of blood from your fingertip (as simple as a blood glucose test).
