The Vliwasorb® adhesive super-absorbent wound dressing, self-adhesive, is designed for the management of heavily exuding wounds. It securely locks in exudate and adheres gently.

The proven benefits of the Vliwasorb super-absorbent wound dressing are combined with the advantage of easy application. Vliwasorb adhesive, with its stretchy and skin-friendly adhesive membrane, is used wherever quick and easyapplication¹ is required compared to the non-adhesive version. Vliwasorb adhesive adheres without the need for additional fixation. The elastic backing membrane adapts to the expansion of the super-absorbent wound pad. Intended use

  • Absorbent, multi-layer wound dressing for the management of exudate from acute and chronic wounds

Indications

  • Moderately to heavily exuding wounds
  • Pressure ulcers, arterial ulcers, venous leg ulcers, diabetic ulcers
  • Post-operative wounds healing by secondary intention
  • Closed laparotomy wounds
  • Superficial second-degree burns

Dosage form

Self-adhesive wound dressing, sterile

Use

Application must be carried out by qualified medical staff. Before use, the sterile barrier system must be visually inspected for any damage to the packaging integrity. Open the packaging at the designated point and remove the product whilst it is still sterile.

  1. Preparing the wound: Clean the wound as usual before applying the new dressing (e.g. with sterile saline solution, Ringer’s solution) and dab the wound edges dry.
  2. Applying the wound dressing: The size of the dressing depends on the wound area. The dressing should be applied in the centre of the wound and should overlap the wound by approx. 2–3 cm. Place the dressing on the wound, smooth it out and press firmly around the edges. For deep wounds, depending on the condition of the wound, an appropriate wound filler may be used. As part of the treatment of underlying conditions, Rosidal® compression bandages may be used.
  3. Changing the dressing: The intervals at which Vliwasorb® adhesive dressings must be changed are determined by healthcare professionals depending on the condition of the wound and the degree of exudation.

Disposal: Product waste in Europe may be classified under a waste code from Chapter 18 01, whilst packaging waste may be classified under a waste code from Chapter 15 01 of the Regulation on the European Waste Catalogue (Waste Catalogue Regulation – AVV). Recyclable packaging should be channelled into the relevant national recycling schemes.

  • Absorbent pad: polyethylene, polypropylene, cellulose, sodium polyacrylate (superabsorbent).
  • Carrier layer: polyurethane membrane with skin-friendly polyacrylate adhesive (free from rosin and rosin derivatives).
