- Vivamel® medicinal chestnut honey promotes active deep cleansing of the wound due to its high sugar content. Accumulated fluid is mobilised, swelling and oedema subside.
- Vivamel® medicinal chestnut honey is not only effective against bacteria due to its osmotic effect, other factors and ingredients also have bacteria-inhibiting or killing properties (also against MRSA and VRE) or prevent the formation of biofilm.
- Wounds show swelling, pain and redness as signs of inflammation. Vivamel® medicinal chestnut honey contains antioxidants that can effectively minimise inflammatory reactions.
- Vivamel® medicinal chestnut honey promotes a physiologically moist wound environment and provides high concentrations of minerals and amino acids required for tissue regeneration directly to the healing wound.
- Wound odour is caused by the bacterial decomposition of tissue proteins. When Vivamel® medicinal chestnut honey is applied, microorganisms prefer to use the sugar contained in Vivamel® and convert it into odourless compounds.
- Wounds with fibrinous tissue
- Wounds with necrotic tissue
- Deep wounds (in combination with medicinal honey from the tube)
- Colonised wounds, infected wounds
- Wounds with a strong odour

Application
- First rinse the wound with running lukewarm drinking water or isotonic saline solution (mild soap is also permitted).
- Place the alginate dressing on the cleansed wound so that they are in close contact and the bacteriostatic and osmotic effect is as good as possible.
- Vivamel requires a secondary dressing and fastening tape. The dressing can extend over the wound edge because the honey protects the wound area.
- The alginate compress can be cut to size or folded.
- It is recommended that the alginate compress is changed every other day at the start of treatment, or even every day if there is heavy secretion. Frequent changing of the compress for wounds with heavy secretion increases the effectiveness of the treatment.
- For wounds with little secretion, it is sufficient to change the compress twice a week.
