Vitalworld L-Carnosine 500 mg capsules are a food supplement containing the amino acid L-carnosine.

Carnosine is a natural substance consisting of 2 amino acids (β-alanine and histidine). Carnosine was discovered and isolated 100 years ago in Russia, where it has been used for a long time. It has been known as a sports supplement since the 1950s. It has only been known as a dietary supplement in Western countries since the beginning of the new millennium. Elevated concentrations of carnosine are found in the human brain and muscles.

In food, carnosine is most strongly represented in meat. It is absorbed in the small intestine. Carnosine protects against the consequences of acidosis caused by lactic acid during intensive exercise and also acts as a neurotransmitter in the body. A sensible combination is to take it together with zinc.
