What is VITACTIV® Spermidine Plus and what function does it fulfil?
VITACTIV® Spermidin Plus contains 0.85 mg spermidine per capsule, which is found in all living cells. Plant foods such as wheat germ, dried soya beans, pumpkin seeds and mushrooms contain particularly high levels of spermidine. Animal foods also contain spermidine, but to a much lesser extent.
It is known that the amount of spermidine produced by the body decreases steadily over the course of a lifetime. Scientific data suggests that there are various physiological circumstances that cause spermidine levels in the human body to rise, including illness, but also repair and growth processes such as convalescence and pregnancy. The concentration of spermidine in the metabolism depends on these activities. A slow metabolism results in a low spermidine level.
The role of spermidine has not yet been fully clarified, but it is clear that spermidine is involved in the process of cell recycling. Recycling is an essential process that ensures that no more functional cell parts or whole cells are broken down than are needed. The resulting building blocks can be reused by the body. Scientific publications indicate that poorly functioning recycling of old cells and their components is associated with the development of various diseases. It has been proven that spermidine is able to stimulate an enzyme that plays an important role in the synthesis of genetic material.
VITACTIV® Spermidin Plus also contains zinc. Along with several other minerals, it is an essential trace element for the human body, which means that it must be supplied through food or other means, as zinc cannot be produced by the body itself. Zinc plays an important role in numerous metabolic processes. In addition, zinc contributes to the normal function of the immune system, normal DNA synthesis and normal cognitive function. Zinc also helps to protect cells from oxidative stress and has a role in cell division.
VITACTIV® Spermidin Plus also contains vitamin B1 (thiamine). Thiamine pyrophosphate acts as a coenzyme and thus supports important reactions in energy metabolism. Vitamin B1 is essential for the heart muscle and the brain, particularly due to the high energy requirement. Vitamin B1 contributes to normal energy metabolism, normal heart function, normal function of the nervous system and normal mental function.

- Advice: Not suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Suitable for diabetics. Contains gluten.
