The hypromellose contained in Viscosan increases the viscosity of the tear fluid and reduces the surface tension. The solution remains on the eye and provides the cornea with good protection against eye irritation of non-infectious origin.
Instilled into the conjunctival sac, the solution spreads rapidly over the entire surface of the eye and forms a thin, transparent film that adheres well to the cornea and conjunctiva of the eye and ensures adequate moisturisation.
Indications:
- For the symptomatic treatment of signs of dehydration of the cornea and conjunctiva ("dry eye") due to tear secretion and dysfunction as a result of local or systemic diseases, as well as in cases of insufficient or incomplete lid closure
- For wetting and rewetting hard contact lenses

Application
- For instillation into the conjunctival sac.
- Always use Viscosan eye drops exactly as instructed in this package leaflet. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure. Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, the dosage should be adhered to.
Dosage:
- Adults: instil 1 drop into the conjunctival sac 3 to 5 times a day or more frequently. The same dosage applies to the rewetting of hard contact lenses. If other eye preparations are also used, there should be at least 15 minutes between the application of the different products. Viscosan eye drops should always be used last.
Ingredients
0.32% hypromellose, cetrimide, sodium monohydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sodium edetate, sorbitol, water for injection.
