Venosin retard 50 mg capsules, 20 ST

Venosin retard 50 mg capsules are a medicinal product which, thanks to the natural active ingredient in horse chestnut seed extract, helps to combat oedema (fluid build-up in body tissues).

Aescin, the active ingredient in horse chestnut seed extract, constricts the cross-section of the veins, reduces vascular permeability and promotes venous outflow and blood circulation right down to the smallest vessels.

When taken regularly, Venosin retard inhibits the passage of blood components from the blood vessels into the tissue, thereby preventing the formation of oedema or acting as a preventative measure against it.

Venosin retard is used to treat functional disorders associated with or resulting from diseases of the leg veins (symptoms of chronic venous insufficiency), e.g.:

• varicose veins
• Vein inflammation (phlebitis and thrombophlebitis)

with symptoms such as: Pain in the legs:

• A sensation of heaviness
• Itching
• night-time calf cramps
• Swelling of the legs
• Tightness
• Tired legs
• Fluid build-up in the tissues (oedema)

This medicine is for use in adults aged 18 and over. If you do not feel any better, or if you feel worse, contact your doctor.

Directions for use

• Adults: Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the usual dose is: 1 capsule in the morning and 1 capsule in the evening.
• Method of administration: For oral use. Swallow whole with plenty of liquid before meals. If mild stomach or bowel discomfort occurs, it is advisable to take the medicine with meals.
• Duration of use: The durationof treatment depends on the symptoms. In principle, there is no time limit on the duration of use. If symptoms persist, a doctor should be consulted regarding the continuation of treatment.
• Use in children and adolescents: This medicine is not intended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

Ingredients

• The active ingredient is: dry extract of horse chestnut seeds 1 capsule contains horse chestnut seed extract equivalent to 50 mg of triterpene glycosides, calculated as anhydrous β-aescin.
• The other ingredients are: Dextrin, copovidone, talc, Eudragit, triethyl citrate, gelatine, black, red and yellow iron oxide (E 172), titanium dioxide (E 171), indigo carmine (E 132), quinoline yellow (E 104).
