Vectra® 3D spot-on solution for dogs weighing over 40 kg is a veterinary medicinal product for the treatment of dogs against infestations with fleas, ticks, sand flies, mosquitoes and biting flies.
Indications
- Fleas: For the treatment and prevention of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis and Ctenocephalides canis). The treatment provides one month’s protection against flea infestation and prevents the reproduction of fleas for a period of two months following application by inhibiting egg hatching (ovicidal effect) and by inhibiting the development of adult fleas from eggs laid by adult fleas (larvicidal effect). This veterinary medicinal product may be used as part of a treatment strategy for allergic flea dermatitis (FAD).
- Ticks: This veterinary medicinal product has a long-lasting killing (acaricidal) and repellent effect against ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus and Ixodes ricinus for one month, and Dermacentor reticulatus for up to 3 weeks). If the animal is already infested with ticks when the veterinary medicinal product is applied, not all ticks may be killed within the first 48 hours, but rather within a week. It is recommended that these ticks be removed using a suitable instrument.
- Sand flies, mosquitoes and biting flies: The treatment results in a sustained repellent (antifeeding) effect. It prevents bites from sand flies (Phlebotomus perniciosus), mosquitoes (Culex pipiens, Aedes aegypti) and biting flies (Stomoxys calcitrans) for one month after application. The treatment also has a long-lasting insecticidal effect for one month after application against mosquitoes (Aedes aegypti) and biting flies (Stomoxys calcitrans).

The recommended minimum dose is 6.4 mg dinotefuran/kg body weight (BW), 0.6 mg
pyriproxyfen/kg BW and 46.6 mg permethrin/kg BW, corresponding to 0.12 ml of the veterinary medicinal product
per kg BW.
The following table shows the size of the dropper applicator that should be used according to the weight
of the dog:
- For dogs over 40 kg – colour of applicator cap: red – volume (ml) 8 – 1 applicator
Method of administration:
- To be applied as drops onto the skin. Care should be taken to apply the veterinary medicinal product only to intact skin.
Instructions for use:
Remove the applicator from the pack.
- Hold the applicator upright and place two fingers beneath the larger disc, as shown.
- With your other hand, press the smaller disc downwards until the two discs meet. This breaks the seal.
- The dog should be standing or in a comfortable position that allows for easy administration . Part the fur until the skin is visible. Administer the veterinary medicine (as described in point 4 below) slowly using the tip of the applicator placed against the skin.
- Application should be carried out in accordance with recommendations 4a or 4b:
Instructions:
- Gently squeeze the applicator and apply the veterinary medicine to the animal’s back directly onto the skin until the applicator is empty; start between the shoulder blades; the number and order of applications are shown in the diagrams below. Avoid applying the product superficially onto the dog’s coat. The number of application sites depends on the dog’s body weight.
- The application is carried out regardless of the dog’s body weight. Part the coat with the tip of the applicator at the base of the tail and begin to apply the veterinary medicine directly onto the skin in a continuous line along the entire length from the base of the tail across the midline of the back to the shoulder blades, (as shown in the illustration). Squeeze the applicator until it is empty.
Repeat treatments:
After a single application, the veterinary medicine prevents parasite infestation for
one month. The treatment can be repeated monthly
Ingredients
- Active ingredients: Each ml contains 54 mg dinotefuran, 4.84 mg pyriproxifen and 397 mg permethrin.
- For dogs over 40 kg: dinotefuran 436 (mg), pyriproxifen 38.7 (mg), permethrin 3175 (mg).
- Other ingredients: 1-octylpyrrolidin-2-one, N-methylpyrrolidone.
