Suprasorb® A Pro Reinforced calcium alginate tamponade sterile, 2 x 45 cm, 5 ST

The Suprasorb® A Pro calcium alginate tamponade (2 x 45 cm) is ideal for deeper, heavily exuding wounds. The reinforced structure makes it easy to remove whole. Sterile packaging for maximum safety in modern wound care.

Suprasorb® A Pro reinforced calcium alginate dressings / tamponades are soft, conformable wound dressings with a high mannuronic acid content. The calcium alginate fibres react with wound exudate or blood and form a gel that creates a moist wound environment. The high exudate absorption capacity promotes wound healing. Suprasorb® A Pro reinforced calcium alginate dressings / tamponades are individually sterile packed and radiation sterilised. The products are sterile as long as the packaging remains unopened and undamaged.

Areas of application

For the treatment of acute and chronic wounds if they are heavily exuding, superficial or deep.

Indications:

• Arterial ulcers
• Venous ulcers
• Diabetic ulcers
• Decubitus ulcers
• Postoperative wounds
• Split skin removal and donor sites

Notes

• Dressing change interval: Depending on the degree of exudation, up to 7 days.

• Can be fixed with a suitable secondary dressing, e.g. Suprasorb P sensitive, depending on the degree of exudation.
• Can be used under compression.

How to use

Prepare the wound:

The wound should be carefully cleaned according to existing clinical standards. The skin surrounding the wound should be clean and dry.

Applying the dressing:

• The size of the dressing depends on the wound area.
• If necessary, the dressing and tamponade can be cut to size using sterile scissors.
• Apply the reinforced Suprasorb® A Pro calcium alginate dressing to the moist wound bed. For slightly exuding wounds, moisten the dressing with physiological saline solution (0.9 %).
• Loosely pack deep wounds with the reinforced Suprasorb® A Pro calcium alginate tamponade.
• Secure the reinforced Suprasorb® A Pro calcium alginate compresses / tamponades with a suitable secondary dressing.

Change the dressing:

The intervals at which the reinforced Suprasorb® A Pro calcium alginate compresses / tamponades must be renewed are determined by the attending physician. Depending on the degree of exudation, reinforced Suprasorb® A Pro calcium alginate dressings/tamponades can remain on/in the wound for up to 7 days before they need to be changed. The dressing is intended for a maximum total treatment period of 30 days.

• Remove the secondary dressing according to existing clinical standards.
• Before assessing the wound and applying a new dressing, remove the non-gelled part of the Suprasorb® A Pro calcium alginate dressing/tamponade and rinse any gel remaining in the wound with physiological saline solution (0.9%).

Precautions

As indicated, wounds must be assessed and treated appropriately under the supervision of a healthcare professional. The use of an appropriate primary and secondary dressing is at the discretion of the treating physician and depends on the overall patient situation. For infected wounds, the treating clinician will decide whether an occlusive secondary dressing can be used based on the general patient condition.

• The attending physician should decide whether to use it on heavily bleeding wounds or during pregnancy or breastfeeding. There is currently no documented clinical experience with the product in this regard.
• The reinforced Suprasorb® A Pro calcium alginate compresses / tamponades are intended for single use only and must not be resterilised.

Ingredients

Composition: Suprasorb® A Pro reinforced calcium alginate compresses/tamponades consist of a homogeneous mixture of 20 % cellulose fibres and 80 % calcium alginate fibres. The alginate fibres consist of about 60 % mannuronic acid and about 40 % guluronic acid.
