Vitamin B5 1000 mg pantothenic acid provides 1 g of the vitamin per tablet. Pantothenic acid is bound as calcium pantothenate to ensure particularly good absorption and delayed release for a long-term supply of the vitamin.
Pantothenic acid was discovered in 1931 by nutritional biologist and biochemist Roger John William. The word "pantothenic" comes from the Greek and means "from everywhere". Pantothenic acid can therefore be found in many foods. Pantothenic acid-rich foods include calf's liver, peanuts, yellow peas, soya beans, brown rice, lobster, watermelon, broccoli, hen's eggs and brewer's yeast.
Vitamin B5 belongs to the group of water-soluble B vitamins, which are not stored by the body and therefore need to be replaced daily.
As coenzymes, water-soluble vitamins form components of enzymes and are thus involved in the control and regulation of bodily functions and in the production of body energy.
Vitamin B5 plays a central role in energy metabolism in the cell. It is involved in over 100 reactions that cause the breakdown of carbohydrates and fats and thus the production of cellular energy
