Stratamed silicone gel, 5 G

The first film-forming, silicone gel-based wound dressing approved for use on open wounds and irritated skin. The early application of Stratamed makes it possible to prevent abnormal scarring. Due to its special composition, the silicone gel forms a water-impermeable film on the skin after a few minutes. This protects the tissue while allowing it to breathe.

How to use

• Stratamed should be applied once a day for at least 60 to 90 days. It can be used on all skin areas, including hairy skin or children's skin.
• Once the gel has dried, sun protection or make-up can be applied on top.
• It is usually applied once a day.

The affected skin area must be clean and dry. Dab dry any excess wound fluid before applying the gel. A very thin layer of Strataderm is applied to the skin and the gel should dry within 5-6 minutes. If it is not dry after a few minutes, you may have used too much. In this case, you can carefully remove the excess gel with a tissue and allow the remaining gel to dry.

Stratamed only needs to be applied once a day. If the scar is located in an area that is subject to particular stress (e.g. on the hand, which frequently comes into contact with water), it is advisable to apply Stratamed twice a day. In order to achieve optimum results, Stratamed should be allowed to act on the skin without interruption (24 hours). When using a secondary wound dressing, the dressing is placed over the gel film. Stratamed should be reapplied when changing the dressing or checking the wound.
