Dosage form
Gel
Directions for use
Adults and children aged 12 years and over:
Unless otherwise prescribed, Squamasol® Gel should be applied two to three times a week . 10 g of gel is sufficient to treat the entire scalp. If only certain areas of the scalp are affected by severe dandruff, these areas should be treated specifically using a correspondingly smaller amount. In cases of very severe dandruff and scaly patches , treatment may be initiated with daily application for a short period. The gel should be left on for at least 10 minutes, although this may be extended to a maximum of 30 minutes in cases of severe dandruff . Treatment should be carried outas a course of treatment over a period of 3–4 weeks.
To maintain the results of the treatment, it is recommended to continue treatment at longer intervals (once a week or every 14 days). For dry and sensitive scalps, it is advisable to limit the application time to 10 minutes and reduce the frequency of application to avoid local irritation. The maximum daily dose for adults of 2 g of salicylic acid – equivalent to 20 g of Squamasol® gel – must not be used for longer than one week.
- Squamasol® Gel is applied in a thin layer directly to the dry or slightly damp scalp , parting the hair if necessary beforehand . The gel is then gently massaged in. After application and massaging in, you should rinseyour hands thoroughly.
- Leave the gel on for as long as recommended in the package leaflet or as advised by your doctor.
- After the prescribed application time , rinse the gel thoroughly from the scalp and hair with water . Take care to ensure that the rinse water does not get into your eyes. It is usually not necessaryto wash your hair after the treatment . However, a mild shampoo may be used if required.
