SinoPlaSan NAC N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine 600 mg MONO capsules are a food supplement. N-acetyl-L-cysteine is the stabilised form of the amino acid L-cysteine and the precursor of glutathione.

L-cysteine can be produced by the body itself from the amino acids serine and methionine, but this natural production is not sufficient to cover the requirement. L-cysteine must therefore also be taken in with food and is therefore considered a semi-essential amino acid. When supplemented, NAC is considered to be better tolerated than L-cysteine, and NAC also has a higher bioavailability and is less sensitive to oxidation. NAC is not found in food and can therefore only be supplied to the body as a supplement.

Signs of a possible NAC deficiency can be

Low glutathione levels
Increased oxidative stress Inflammation and increased susceptibility to infections
Premature ageing
Brittle hair and nails
Cracked and brittleskin
Infections of the upper and lower respiratory tract

Notes: NAC is known as an active ingredient in cough suppressants (e.g. ACC). However, there are now many studies that shed light on the most diverse areas of application.
