Vitamin D3 belongs to the group of fat-soluble vitamins and can be produced by the body from cholesterol under the influence of UV-B radiation. In Central Europe, this occurs most effectively during the summer months. During the darker months of the year, it is important to obtain vitamin D from food; however, there are few natural sources of vitamin D in our diet and even fewer that are suitable for a vegan diet. A precursor to vitamin D, ergosterol, is found, for example, in morels, porcini mushrooms, button mushrooms, chanterelles and avocados.

Vitamin D makes a valuable contribution to the normal absorption and utilisation of calcium, as well as to maintaining normal calcium levels in the blood. It is also required for the maintenance of normal muscle function and for the maintenance of normal bones and teeth. Furthermore, vitamin D plays a role in cell division and contributes to the normal function of the immune system.

Vitamin D3 is often derived from lanolin, the natural wax found in sheep’s wool. Our 100% vegan raw material comes from a special type of algae that has been cultivated in Europe for decades. The cultivation facility is inspired by the ocean, but there is no direct contact with it, which ensures complete control over its quality and purity.

Thanks to patented microencapsulation, Vitamin D3 10,000 IU VEGAN exhibits excellent stability and therefore a long shelf life (36 months). The 100% carrageenan-free capsule shell is made from a non-enteric cellulose derivative (HPMC).
