Humic acids are complex organic molecules that occur naturally in the soil and are formed by the decomposition of plant material. They belong to the group of humic substances, which also includes fulvic and humic acids. Humic acids are dark brown to black in colour and have a complex structure with many functional groups such as carboxyl and phenol groups. Due to their chemical structure, they bind very readily, especially to organic molecules.

In nature, humic acids play an important role in soil formation and structuring. They can bind nutrients and thus increase their availability for plants. They also promote the activity of soil microorganisms and contribute to the stabilisation of organic substances in the soil. They help to neutralise the pH value in the soil and also improve the plants' ability to absorb water from the soil.

The humic and fulvic acids contained in DTX Humic Acid come from fully humified biomass extracted from a Leonardite mine in the heart of Hungary, a million-year-old deposit of the best and pristine quality with minimal environmental impact.
