The SAFECARE Covid-19 Antigen Rapid Self-Test is a CE-certified self-test for home use designed to detect a SARS-CoV-2 infection. It is intended for use by members of the public to carry out a test on the anterior nasal cavity (2.5 cm).
The kit is intended for the qualitative in vitro detection of the Covid-19 antigen using a human anterior nasal swab. The test is intended as a rapid screening tool for suspected cases of the novel coronavirus, but may also be used as a confirmatory method for the detection of nucleic acid in patients following their discharge. A positive test result indicates that the sample contains a coronavirus antigen. A negative test result does not rule out the possibility of infection.
People are generally susceptible to COVID-19, which is a contagious and acute respiratory disease. Infected patients are currently the main source of infection, although asymptomatic individuals also represent a source of infection. The incubation period is 1 to 14 days, but is usually 3 to 7 days. The main symptoms include fever, a dry cough, fatigue, and loss of the sense of smell and/or taste. Symptoms such as a blocked and/or runny nose, sore throat, muscle aches and diarrhoea may also occur.
This test is suitable for members of the public to use as a self-test at home and at work (in offices, at sporting events, airports, schools, etc.).
